1960’s small dark brown patent leather framed handbag, with scalloped edge and unusual gold tone clasp and bow details below the handles. The front, back and bottom of the bag (and the outside of the handles) are patent leather, which has a slight metallic finish, the sides and top are a dark brown leather. Inside there is an open pocket on one side and a zipped pocket on the other.
Made in England by quality maker Widegate of London (they made handbags for Harrods and other high end department stores).
The general condition is very good. There is slight wear to the fittings and some very minor scratching to the surface of the patent leather, as you would expect. The snap closure is tight. The base is clean and unmarked; there is no rubbing to the corners. There is some creasing to the leather underside of the handles. There is a very small white mark on the bottom edge of the bag and a small area of wear to the top leather edge. The handbag is lined in suede, which shows only slightest signs of use.
Measures: width 22.5cm; height 20cm; depth 8.5cm. Handle drop is 15 cm to top of bag.
